Fabio DOURONE
DOURONE (Madrid, 1985) is a Spanish visual artist whose work investigates the human condition in a time of transformation. His practice is driven by a recurring question: what does it mean to be human in an age when technology, speed, and constant change are redefining the way we think, feel, and relate to one another?
Through painting, installation, and artistic research projects, he develops a visual language that combines realism, symbolism, and elements of Surrealism to explore themes such as identity, memory, consciousness, desire, and contradiction. His images function as spaces for reflection rather than closed narratives, inviting viewers to recognize themselves within them.
He began his artistic career in 1999. In 2012, he began a collaboration with Elodie Arshak, with whom he developed an extensive international public art project over more than a decade. Together, they created more than 110 murals across 22 countries and 67 cities, establishing themselves as a significant presence in contemporary muralism.
Following this period, DOURONE returned to the studio to pursue a more intimate and philosophical investigation. Since then, his work has focused on developing a body of work that engages with the great questions of our time: the search for meaning, the fragility of memory, the transformation of identity, and the relationship between the individual and collective consciousness.
Rather than representing the world, his work seeks to reveal what usually remains invisible: emotions that have no name, the contradictions that shape us, and the questions we share as human beings.
His work has been exhibited in galleries and institutions across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the United States, and is held in international private collections.
For DOURONE, art is not an answer, but a form of knowledge. A place where the image ceases to be merely representation and becomes an experience capable of expanding the viewer’s consciousness
